Ball Scores First Win of Season With Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour

Inside Line Promotions – WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 21, 2018) – After facing several challenges throughout the recent 360ci and 410ci versions of the Knoxville Nationals, Jamie Ball hit a high note by recording his second career win with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com last Saturday at Hamilton County Speedway.

“After our absolutely terrible Knoxville Nationals luck and results everyone at White Lightning Motorsports was ready for a change of luck,” he said. “Hamilton County Speedway had not raced winged sprint cars for 21 years. Therefore, we were excited and anxious to have a level playing field with the rest of the ASCS National Tour competitors as none of them have ever raced there.”

The White Lightning Motorsports driver kicked off the weekend with a decent pill draw as he started on the inside of the second row for a heat race. Ball finished the heat where he started, which was good enough to make the feature redraw. The luck of the draw played in Ball’s favor as he pulled the No. 2 during the random redraw to line up on the outside of the front row for the 25-lap feature.

At the drop of the green flag Ball jumped to the lead, but had a hard-charging Johnny Herrera to fend off during several restarts. Ball maintained the lead from green to checkered as he garnered first Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour victory of the season.

“I knew that getting the lead on Lap 1 would be the key to victory,” he said. “It was a bit nerve-racking on every restart knowing veteran Johnny Herrera was behind me and hungry for a win as well.

“This win couldn't have come at a better time. Our team really needed a win and a change of luck to hopefully set the tone for the last two to three months of the season. I couldn't do this without the help of all my crew: Rob Hart, Mom, Dad, Jacee, Jody, Josh, Anthony, Brandon and our loyal marketing partners. This season has taught me that things may not always go your way, but stay positive and continue to work hard as a team and it will eventually bring success. I am feeling very blessed to drive the WLM No. 5J sprint car and to be surrounded by such a supportive group of people.”

Sunday’s ASCS National Tour race at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., rained out.

Next up, the White Lightning Motorsports team will return to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this Saturday for the Season Championship Night.
