Ball Picks Up First Win at I-80 Speedway With Nebraska 360 Sprints

Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 16, 2018) – Jamie Ball put on a clinic last Friday at I-80 Speedway, where he captured his first win of the 2018 season.

The White Lightning Motorsports driver was scheduled to compete at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, but a rainout sent them in search of another place to race. The team made the decision to head west to the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event.

Ball won his heat race from the pole position, which locked him into the top eight redraw for the feature event.

“We just unloaded fast,” he said. “From the first lap of hot laps I knew we had a good piece and the car to beat and that momentum carried throughout the night. We started on the front row for the heat race and got the jump on the start and never looked back. Caleb (Walker) had the luck of the draw for the redraw and it put us up front again for the feature.”

Ball’s team pulled the No. 1 during the random redraw to start the 25-lap main event from the pole.

“The car was spot on from the get-go,” Ball said. “Our Fisher engine shot off the starting line to the lead. We went to the cushion and led every lap. About halfway the track rubbered up and then we lost brakes, but we were able to hang on until the checkered flag.”

Ball led the distance to record the impressive triumph.

“The car was on a rail and just one of the best cars I’ve ever driven,” he said. “It’s so nice to be able to get our first win at such an early point of our year. I truly credit this win to what the first three races of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour has taught me and I’m looking forward to a great year of learning and success.”

Ball’s next race on the schedule will be this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway for the rescheduled season opener. He will be running both a 360ci and 410ci sprint car.

“I’m really looking forward to competing at Knoxville Raceway when our schedule allows,” Ball said. “We were able to get some practice laps in last Thursday and the car felt really good and had some speed. I’m excited to see where we stack up against the big dogs of the 410 class at Knoxville.”
